It would be all too
easy to describe the
DS1620 as a simple
temperature sensor:
in the present circuit,
the device doubles
as a thermometer
with a wide temperature
range, and a
programmable thermostat
with switching
outputs and hysteresis.
The DS1620 is
coupled to a PIC
microcontroller
which is programmed
to store
the digitized temperature,
send it to an
RS-232 interface, and
show it on a bright
LED display.
