In symmetric preamplifiers and output
amplifiers, it is highly advisable,
if not imperative, to use truly complementary
transistors. This means
that the base-emitter voltage and the
current amplification of the p-n-p
and n-p-n transistors must be equal
or very nearly so. The absolute values
of these parameters are not that
important.
