Lead-acid batteries must not be
discharged deeply. In the best
case, this leads to an irreversible
loss of capacity; in the worst
case, the likelihood of serious,
irreparable damage is great. It
is, therefore, rather odd that
there are several circuits aimed
at protecting these batteries to
being overcharged, but hardly
any to protect them against
being discharged too deeply.
