The design of a digital
loudspeaker system
presents grave
difficulties owing to
the requirements
for low quantization,
low spurious noises
and good directivity.
The key to a good
design lies in the digital
signal processor,
DSP. The electroacoustic
conversion
remains traditional, of
course, but a DSP
unit is added to the
digital audio chain in
which a digital-to-analogue
converter (DAC)
precedes the normal
amplifier and loudspeaker.
