A CD for Christmas
tasteful lighting effects
By now, loyal readers probably expect that every year around the holiday season, Elektor Electronics will come up with a playful circuit that provides an original touch in or around the Christmas tree. This year, our starting point is a compact disc.Admittedly, this is naturally nothing more than ‘fooling around’. Still, we know that most electronics enthusiasts enjoy doing something unusual for Christmas decorations. Some of the standard lighting ornaments that you can find in the department store bins are attractive enough, but everyone already has them. If you are an electronics hobbyist and you want to make a good impression, you will have to think of something somewhat original. In order to stimulate this a little bit, Elektor Electronics regularly provides some suggestions.

Gerber file
CAM/CAD data for the PCB referred to in this article is available as a Gerber file. Elektor GREEN and GOLD members can exclusively download these files for free as part of their membership. Gerber files allow a PCB to be produced on an appropriate device available locally, or through an online PCB manufacturing service.
Elektor recommends the Elektor PCB Service service from its business partner Eurocircuits or AISLER as the best services for its own prototypes and volume production.
The use of our Gerber files is provided under a modified Creative Commons license. Creative Commons offers authors, scientists, educators and other creatives the freedom to handle their copyright in a more free way without losing their ownership.
