In the mid-1950s, the Philips Netherlands company was renowned for the outstanding quality of all mechanical assemblies and parts in their test & measurement and communications equipment. Philips’ ‘PR’ series of equipment was electronic for sure, but not limited to electronics—serving the chemical, medical and mechanical industries and research institutions, which represented a large and lucrative market at the time.
