Coils and transformers are integral to the field of electronics. The Professional Lab Power Supply project featured in the September 2014 edition Elektor uses a special transformer. It’s a planar type where the windings are made from PCB tracks. Here we look at the structure of these electromagnetic components and simulate their performance.
