Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is caused by the sudden discharge between objects with different charge potentials. And it is precisely this discharge that can generate high electrical currents capable of damaging or even destroying components completely. It's not even necessary for the component to be in direct contact with the discharge — it is sufficient for the electrostatic process to take place in the vicinity of the component. Here we discuss measures and material for ESD-safe working.
