The cover of the Elektor Summer Circuits 2022 was designed by multidisciplinary artist Kelly Heaton. Heaton is not only a socially critical artist, but also an electrical engineer, and uses that combination to create completely unique works of art. Her art combines electrical engineering with nature, spirituality, sculpture, painting, print, design and fashion. In her art, Heaton frequently uses enlargement of electronic components to a human scale, allowing people to relate to circuits as a reflection of who we are. As shown on the Elektor cover, among other things, Kelly makes beautiful, (often functional) circuits that mimic scenes from nature. Through her work, Heaton aims to humanize technology culture and improve our relationship with nature by engaging in a dialogue about the universal circuitry in which we are all connected. Elektor is very proud of this collaboration, and it was only natural for us to meet up with Kelly for an interview with C.J. Abate.
