Tiny Power Protection Switch
on
Texas Instruments have introduced the industry's smallest, high power efficiency, bidirectional 18 V, 5 A protection switches. These devices save board space and will extend battery life in portable and adapter-powered devices. The eFuse TPS259404 and TPS259422 integrated circuits include back-to-back FETs to provide bidirectional current control and result in up to 50 percent reduction in PCB footprint compared with discrete solutions. These smart eFuse ICs can maintain over/under voltage threshold accuracy of 2 percent thereby eliminating the need for a separate supply voltage supervisor chip.
The PGOOD, FLT and current monitor output signals IMON provide comprehensive system status information.
