Sensirion, the expert in environmental sensing, is proud to announce that bluSensor® is using Sensirion’s environ-mental sensors in its innovative air quality device, bluSensor® AIQ.
bluSensor® AIQ is the world’s first intelligent air quality measuring device with a smart plug concept. The small, flexible sen-sor can be operated with a power bank battery, via a USB socket in a smart home, via a notebook at work or even in a car or truck. It measures and stores over 5,000 different air quality values, everywhere and at any time. The specially developed LED pulsates in the appropriate color depending on the air quality. A quick glance at the device is enough to read the current condition of your air.
The compact measuring device can be used on the go via Bluetooth Low Energy and a suitable app for iOS and Android, as well as in a fixed location via wifi and without the need for a gateway. The device supports the most common smart home solutions like Apple’s HomeKit and Conrad Connect. Moreover, the device has an extensive open source interface (API) aimed at IoT developers to integrate the sensor into any IoT cloud.
“There is currently no comparable device on the market that can be used both portably and in a smart home and that is open to any IoT cloud available,” says Dipl.-Ing. Dorly Holzer-Harringer, Managing Director of Almendo Technologies GmbH.
bluSensor® AIQ has been specially developed for the consumer electronics market. By using the latest sensor technology from Sensirion (humidity sensor SHTC3, multi-pixel gas sensor SGP30), it was possible to develop a mobile measuring de-vice with precise measurements and low power consumption in a very small package.
“bluSensor’s air quality device is the perfect application for our environmental sensors, offering a low power mode as well as reliable and accurate air quality measurements,” says Hartmut Welte, Area Sales Manager at Sensirion.
The humidity sensor SHTC3 has been designed to overcome conventional limits on size, power consumption and price-per-formance ratio in order to fulfill the requirements of the consumer electronics market and products like bluSensor’s AIQ. By using Sensirion’s CMOSens® Technology, the SHTC3 offers a complete sensor system on a single chip. The SGP30 gas sensor is based on Sensirion’s multi-pixel platform, which integrates four gas sensing elements into a very small 2.45 x 2.45 x 0.9 mm3 DFN package featuring a fully calibrated air quality output signal. The unique combination of long-term stability and multi-pixel technology opens up new possibilities for environmental monitoring for smart homes, appliances and Internet of Things applications.
“We are already working on further devices for the smart home and prop tech markets. The precise, and long-term stable SPS30 particulate matter sensor from Sensirion will also be integrated here,” explains Dipl.-Ing. Holzer-Harringer.
The air quality sensor device is now available on presale via Kickstarter.
