The latest single-channel high-side load switch from Diodes Inc. can handle 2A (continuous) with a supply voltage range between 1.4 to 5.5 V making it ideal for use to switch USB-powered applications.
The AP22913 load switch is a P-channel MOSFET power switch featuring true reverse-current blocking so that Vin and Vout remain isolated even during device OFF state (unlike simple MOSFET switches which leak current via their parasitic diode). With a load current of up to 2A over a wide operating voltage range, the AP22913 switch offers a typical Rds (on) of 92mΩ at 1.5V and just 54mΩ at 5.0V. According to Diodes Inc., the relatively high maximum load current is possible with low energy losses due to the low forward voltage drop of the switching MOSFET.
Output slew rate is internally controlled to help reduce spurious switching transients and to provide a soft-start function for sensitive loads. The control input is active high and an Under Voltage Lockout (UVLO) feature turns the switch off when the input voltage is too low.
The AP22913 is designed for operation with a supply from 1.4 to 5.5 V making it suitable for a wide range of applications running at 1.8 / 2.5 / 3.3 and 5 V; quiescent current draw is just 1 μA. Its 2 A maximum continuous load current capability will be useful for many smartphone or mobile device applications as well as for medical devices, notebooks and ultra-mobile PCs.
The AP22913 is available in an X-WLB0909-4 package as the AP22913CN4-7 and in an SOT26 package as the AP22913W6-7.
