Nuri Özalp is the CEO of Meta Smart Factory, a Slovenia-based start-up focused on next-gen smart factory solutions. The company provides real-time data collection and an advanced software package that helps with big data processing, analysis, and remote production control and management. Özalp, who holds a PhD in computer science from Özyeğin Üniversitesi, recently spoke with Arthur Lampe, Elektor’s Startup Investment Manager, about his company's technology, Industry 4.0, and more.

"We offer a manufacturing executing system (MES) solution — making use of the Internet of Things (IoT) — that helps to communicate with machines and serves to keep all data securely in the cloud. Big data stream processing and machine learning are used to analyze big data in the cloud to generate meaningful visualizations. And lastly, SAP/ERP integration supports the modules to manage all production flow," Özalp explained. "The solution is the combination of hardware (Meta Industrial Panel) and software (Meta Web and Mobile Application)."
