Stuart Cording speaks with the team behind DesignSpark, RS Group's engineering community. It has grown from strength to strength for more than a decade. Combining a community forum with free tools for PCB design and 3D modelling, students, makers, and engineers are all well served.

Their GrassRoots program has been highlighting how engineering can support the challenges we face around climate change, and helping improve the lives of communities around the world. Recent competitions have encouraged closer analysis of air quality, with the team providing kits upon which some great sensing solutions were built. These include a Mindful Droid monitoring pollution levels on our streets, to turning air quality information into AI art.
