Interactive Development Environment for the Internet of Things
on
Thingsquare has announced Thingsquare Code, which is designed to help connect products such as light bulbs, thermostats, and smart city systems to smartphone apps. Touted as the world's first online interactive development environment for the Internet of Things (IoT), the new tool works with a number of chips aimed at the emerging Internet of Things market recently launched by Texas Instruments and STMicroelectronics.
The IDE allows developers of IoT products to program their wireless chips using a web browser allowing them to quickly prototype and validate their products which reduces significantly the development effort compared to previous approaches and lowers the expertise barrier.
The IDE currently supports a number of microprocessor platforms, including ARM Cortex-M3 and TI MSP430. By leveraging secure cloud connectivity, devices can be programmed without cables and without having to install compiler tool chains.
