Mouser Now Shipping NXP QorIQ LS10x8A Communications Processors for Intelligent Edge Designs
on
October 16, 2018 - Mouser Electronics, Inc., the industry's leading New Product Introduction (NPI) distributor with the widest selection of semiconductors and electronic components, is now stocking QorIQ® LS1048A and LS1088Acommunications processors from NXP Semiconductors. Featuring DPAA2 data path architecture and up to eight Arm® Cortex® cores, the LS10x8A processors provide engineers with the processing resources to deliver low-power, flexible and cost-efficient solutions for intelligent edge access equipment, virtual customer premises equipment (vCPE) solutions, industrial control systems, and intelligent network interface controller applications.
The NXP QorIQ LS1048A and LS1088Acommunications processors, available from Mouser Electronics, are based on four (LS1048A) or eight (LS1088A) Arm Cortex-A53 cores running at up to 1.6 GHz. The devices include NXP's second-generation datapath acceleration architecture (DPAA2), simplifying secure networking interface and accelerator sharing by multiple general-purpose CPU cores. The processors incorporate a DDR4 memory controller and up to two 10 Gbit/second and eight 1 Gbit/second Ethernet interfaces with L2 switch capabilities. The next-generation datapath couples proven cryptographic and trust architecture hardware acceleration with general-purpose cores, meeting the ever-increasing demands for network security and power efficiency in one platform.
The QorIQ LS1048A and LS1088A processors contain an advanced I/O processor (AIOP) that offloads the general-purpose Cortex-A53 cores with in-line or fully autonomous networking functions, involving complex look-ups, header manipulations, and even encapsulation and encryption.
The Cortex-A53 cores and DPAA2 are supported by the Layerscape software development kit (LSDK), a powerful software toolkit that provides a high level of hardware abstraction, performance optimization, and virtualization, making software development quick and simple. This combination balances ease-of-use with high-performance processing in a familiar Linux environment, along with regular upstreaming for long-term support.
