Webinar: Cryptography Primer

Join Microchip and Elektor for the webinar "Cryptography Primer" to learn about the fundamentals of cryptography. Both symmetric and asymmetric cryptography will be covered.

One of the courses Microchip University is offering is Cryptography Primer. The target audience are those unfamiliar with how cryptography works or those very rusty and in need of a refresher. Both symmetric and asymmetric cryptography will be covered and examples will be shown on how each are used in real-world examples. It will be shown how identity is created and used for authentication, integrity, and confidentiality.

In this webinar, Clemens Valens (Elektor) and Dan Ujvari (Microchip) will guide you through the informative course. They will cover the most important aspects of the technology, give background information, show several videos from the course and go into more detail about the content in these videos.

The Speakers

Dan Ujvari is a Principal Engineer and Embedded Security Specialist at Microchip Technology. He has held several key engineering roles during his 28-year tenure with the company, including his current role as Global Education Leader for Microchip’s Security Function Group, a tactical group of design engineers based around the world and dedicated to assisting clients realize robustly secure devices and systems. Dan began as a design engineer in the Advanced System Development group at National Cash Register, designing disk and tape drive controllers. He later worked for Signetics Corporation, which is now part of NXP Semiconductors. He holds multiple patents in the areas of FPGAs, electric field theory and cryptography. He is a cryptography lecturer for graduate-level students at several universities, including Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania.

Clemens Valens is the Technical Manager of Elektor Labs. He holds a BSc in Electronics and an MSc in Electronics and Information Technology. Valens started working for Elektor in 2008 as editor in chief of Elektor France, and he has also worked as an editor for Elektor UK/US and ElektorMagazine.com. He currently produces engineering tutorials and product reviews at Elektor.tv. In recent videos, Clemens covered the following topics and more: Arduino compiler optimizations, GitHub essentials, home automation, getting started with KiCad EDA, and several informative product reviews.
