This article looks more closely at the techniques necessary for soldering and desoldering SMD components. A standard soldering iron with an interchangeable bit together with some additional solder paste are the only soldering tools necessary for most SMD work. A normal soldering iron would be something similar to the Ersa type Analogue 60 A.
