Results of the Model-C Race

Then it was the turn of the Model C teams. The fact that the task was not trivial could be seen from the fact that none of the teams managed to complete the course completely at the first attempt. Each team had three chances and could change the parameters of the car such as speed setting or camera angle (a little sharper or not at all). In the end, however, many attempts (more) were necessary before some teams managed to complete the course. After all, only three of the nine teams have achieved this goal.
The best time (22.49 seconds) was achieved by the Koala Racer from Landshut, followed by the K-Team from Deggendorf in second place with a time of 32.27 seconds and just behind in third place the lone fighter Mac from Mundiapolis, Morocco, in 37.04 seconds.

The six teams in the Alamak category were significantly more successful than their Model C colleagues: No less than two thirds of all participants (four cars) successfully crossed the finish line. The winner was Team FasTech from Craiova in Romania with a time of 26.81 seconds. Team Athlos from West Attica, Greece, finished second with 30.47 seconds, while Team ACDT from Iasi, Romania, had to make do with third place, as their car was just under half a second slower at 30.94 seconds.

Conclusion

The NXP Cup is an interesting competition for embedded programmers in training to gain experience outside school and university laboratories and show what they can do. For NXP it is mainly a talent hunt, for the spectators a fun and exciting event where it is impressive to see what the teams are capable of.

In 2019

For the coming season, which will start shortly, the framework conditions of the NXP Cup have not yet been clarified. For example, there are plans to allow non-student teams, and the possibility of allowing more freedom in car design is also being considered. A drone competition is also in preparation.
